Make Changes - instead of a leaf blower
-
Use a rake for leaves or a broom for grass clippings.

-
Leave the leaves, or, as many as possible! A perfectly neat and tidy lawn with no leaves under bushes or plants has less ecological value and has a negative effect on biodiversity! Leaf litter improves our ecosystems.

-
Use leaves as a resource for mulch all year and avoid an early spring clean-up to protect insects at early stages and other hibernating creatures.
-
Develop new landscaping habits with room for a habitat garden. The David Suzuki Foundation's LawnShare pledge might help you reimagine!

Find out if there is a by-law restricting the use of leaf blowers in your neighbourhood.
Call 311 to inform the city if the by-law regulating the allowable type of leaf blower or its allowed time of use is being ignored.

If there is no by-law restricting leaf blower use, contact your city/town councillor and ask for one!
